About PADAC (Pencoed & District Angling Club)

PADAC was formed over 100 years ago and has retained it's  position as the principal resident angling club upon the River Ewenny.

It's a small, active club, capped at 40 members, and it's primary focus is providing high quality fly fishing on the river. The low membership numbers in the club ensure only the lightest of angling pressure on the river itself.

The club takes a progressive attitude towards the management of it's fishing. Angling on the PADAC stretches of the Ewenny is Flyfishing only. The river is not stocked, and a strict Catch and Release policy is observed, with the use of barbless hooks only. This approach serves to encourage and support an extremely healthy population of wild Brown Trout and Grayling.

In return for the river's bounty, PADAC takes it's responsibilities as a custodian of the Ewenny seriously and, as a club, is highly proactive in measures to maintian and enhance the river  and surrounding environment.

The club hosts a number of events during the year, including an annual dinner and of course, fishing, both in the form of work-shops and even competitions. Of course, ultimately it is the members that make the club, so the more engaged members are the more benefit there is to all, and in that respect PADAC is extremely fortunate.
